Daily Devotional 1 Year Bible 2KI_10:5 And he that [was] over the house, and he that [was] over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up [of the children], sent to Jehu, saying, We [are] thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou [that which is] good in thine eyes. 2KI_10:6 Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If ye [be] mine, and [if] ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time. Now the king's sons, [being] seventy persons, [were] with the great men of the city, which brought them up. 2KI_10:7 And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and slew seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent him [them] to Jezreel. 2KI_10:8 And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. And he said, Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning. 2KI_10:9 And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, Ye [be] righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these? 2KI_10:10 Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the LORD, which the LORD spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the LORD hath done [that] which he spake by his servant Elijah. 2KI_10:11 So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left him none remaining. 2KI_10:12 And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria. [And] as he [was] at the shearing house in the way, 2KI_10:13 Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who [are] ye? And they answered, We [are] the brethren of Ahaziah; and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen. 2KI_10:14 And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of the shearing house, [even] two and forty men; neither left he any of them. 2KI_10:15 And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab [coming] to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart [is] with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give [me] thine hand. And he gave [him] his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot. 2KI_10:16 And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot. 2KI_10:17 And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the saying of the LORD, which he spake to Elijah. 2KI_10:18 And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; [but] Jehu shall serve him much. 2KI_10:19 Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice [to do] to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did [it] in subtlety, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal. 2KI_10:20 And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed [it]. 2KI_10:21 And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another. 2KI_10:22 And he said unto him that [was] over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments. 2KI_10:23 And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only. 2KI_10:24 And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, [If] any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, [he that letteth him go], his life [shall be] for the life of him. 2KI_10:25 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, [and] slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast [them] out, and went to the city of the house of Baal. 2KI_10:26 And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them. 2KI_10:27 And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day. 2KI_10:28 Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel. 2KI_10:29 Howbeit [from] the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, [to wit], the golden calves that [were] in Bethel, and that [were] in Dan. 2KI_10:30 And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing [that which is] right in mine eyes, [and] hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that [was] in mine heart, thy children of the fourth [generation] shall sit on the throne of Israel. 2KI_10:31 But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin. 2KI_10:32 In those days the LORD began to cut Israel short: and Hazael smote them in all the coasts of Israel; 2KI_10:33 From Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which [is] by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan. 2KI_10:34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 2KI_10:35 And Jehu slept with his fathers: and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead. 2KI_10:36 And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria [was] twenty and eight years. 2KI_11:1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal. 2KI_11:2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons [which were] slain; and they hid him, [even] him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain. 2KI_11:3 And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land. 2KI_11:4 And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and showed them the king's son. 2KI_11:5 And he commanded them, saying, This [is] the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king's house; 2KI_11:6 And a third part [shall be] at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down. 2KI_11:7 And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king. 2KI_11:8 And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in. 2KI_11:9 And the captains over the hundreds did according to all [things] that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest. 2KI_11:10 And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David's spears and shields, that [were] in the temple of the LORD. 2KI_11:11 And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, [along] by the altar and the temple. 2KI_11:12 And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and [gave him] the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king. 2KI_11:13 And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard [and] of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD. 2KI_11:14 And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner [was], and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason. ACT_5:17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, ACT_5:18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. ACT_5:19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, ACT_5:20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life. ACT_5:21 And when they heard [that], they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought. ACT_5:22 But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told, ACT_5:23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within. ACT_5:24 Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow. ACT_5:25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people. ACT_5:26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned. ACT_5:27 And when they had brought them, they set [them] before the council: and the high priest asked them, ACT_5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. ACT_5:29 Then Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. ACT_5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. ACT_5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand [to be] a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. ACT_5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and [so is] also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. ACT_5:33 When they heard [that], they were cut [to the heart], and took counsel to slay them. ACT_5:34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space; ACT_5:35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men. ACT_5:36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought. PSA_76:11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared. PSA_76:12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: [he is] terrible to the kings of the earth. PSA_77:1 To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph. I cried unto God with my voice, [even] unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me. PSA_77:2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. PSA_77:3 I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah. PSA_77:4 Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. PRO_16:28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends. PRO_16:29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way [that is] not good. PRO_16:30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass. LUKJ_7:24 What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind? LUKJ_7:25 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts. LUKJ_7:26 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. LUKJ_7:27 This is [he], of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. LUKJ_7:28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
